Counselling for Parents & Caregivers
For parents and caregivers working through the blocks that cause a loss of connection to their caregiving instincts, from pregnancy and the postpartum months through every stage of raising a family.
What we can work on
- Feeling disconnected from your child or from your own caregiving instincts
- Pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period (perinatal mental health)
- Stress, overwhelm and burnout from caring for others
- Supporting a child or loved one through mental health challenges
- Patterns from your own upbringing showing up in your parenting
- Foster and kinship caregiving, including caring for children of the Global Majority
How I work
My approach is relationship-based and attachment-focused. I draw on Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), which helps caregivers feel more confident supporting the people they love. For what you carry yourself, I use AEDP, IFS and Brainspotting.
My background with families
- Counsellor in Parent Outreach and Parent Education at Langley Community Services (2009 to 2014), then Program Manager for Counselling and Education
- Trained in Core and Advanced Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, with certification in progress
- Delivered Fostering Inclusion workshops for the BC Foster Parents Association and a keynote for Hollyburn Family Services
