Clinical Supervision and Consultation for Counsellors in BC
Supervision and consultation are not neutral acts. Who we are, what we carry, and the systems we operate within all shape how we sit with our clients and how we grow as clinicians. I believe this work is most powerful when it holds all of that complexity with honesty and care.
What Are Clinical Supervision and Consultation?
Clinical Supervision is a formal, evaluative relationship in which a qualified supervisor provides oversight, guidance, and support to a supervisee. It is designed to promote competent and ethical practice, support professional development, and protect the wellbeing of clients. In British Columbia, clinical supervision is a required component of the pathway to becoming a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BCACC, and is also required for those pursuing the Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) designation.
Consultation is a collegial process in which a registered clinician seeks input from a more experienced practitioner on specific clinical questions, complex cases, or areas of professional development. Unlike supervision, consultation is not always evaluative, though it can carry a gatekeeping function depending on the context. It is a valuable resource for clinicians at any stage of their career who want a skilled, thoughtful sounding board to support their ongoing growth.
Both are meaningful investments in your clinical life and in the quality of care you offer your clients.
Working With Me
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Approved Clinical Supervisor (RCC-ACS #12132) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, I bring over fifteen years of clinical practice and a deep commitment to supervision and consultation that is both rigorous and humanizing. My approach is rooted in relational, decolonial, and anti-oppressive frameworks, and I draw from the Seven-Eyed Model (Hawkins and Shohet) to support supervisees and consultees in developing insight not just about their clients, but about themselves, their practice, and the broader systems in which they work.
As a first-generation Nigerian Canadian practitioner who has worked in the Lower Mainland since 2009, I understand what it means to navigate clinical spaces that were not always designed with us in mind. My supervision and consultation practice creates room for those conversations, the ones about culture, identity, power, and belonging, because I believe they are essential, not optional.
I am the co-developer of Relational Wisdom: Decolonizing Clinical Supervision and currently facilitate the BCACC Foundation of Clinical Supervision Certificate Course. Whether you are a supervisee working toward your RCC or ACS designation, or a consultee seeking a thoughtful space to explore complex cases and clinical questions, I offer an experience that is culturally grounded and genuinely relational.
If you are looking for an Approved Clinical Supervisor in British Columbia who integrates trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and anti-oppressive practice, I would be honoured to support you.
